JAKARTA - The Russian Armed Forces have launched attacks on Ukrainian military facilities in response to the Ukrainian attack on Russia's civilian infrastructure, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"We can see how Ukraine attacks our social infrastructure facilities, civilian infrastructure. This is a retaliatory attack, attacks on military facilities and military targets," he said in response to reporters' questions.
On Sunday, Russia launched a high-precision attack on military facilities on Ukrainian soil, after several days of an unprecedented massive drone strike from Kyiv.
Among them, Ukraine's defense plant that produces missile and drone components, as well as satellite electronic intelligence and communication centers is targeted. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, all targets determined were affected by the attack.
Ukrainian officials say the Russian military launched 367 drones and missiles into cities in Ukraine, killing at least 12 people and injuring dozens more.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has asked the United States, which has taken a softer public stance against Russia and its leader, Vladimir Putin, since President Donald Trump took office, to speak up.
