JAKARTA The National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia (NPC Indonesia) ensured that the World Abilitysport Games 2025 (WAG 2025) was canceled in Indonesia.
In an official statement received by the media, NPC Indonesia confirmed that the Federation of World Abilitysports notified the cancellation of the multi-branch via electronic mail and made an announcement on its official website.
"What can we do, what is clear is that we are very sorry because actually our struggle to become the host went through a long process of competing with other countries," said the chairman of the Indonesian NPC, Senny Marbun.
This cancellation was made due to a lack of guarantee from the Government regarding the implementation considering that there is only less than three months left, especially since there is no clarity regarding the quantity to date.

Wakekjen NPC Indonesia, Rima Ferdianto, mengungkapkan bahwa segala upaya telah dilakukan agar multi ramah ini tetap bisa terjalankan di Indonesia. Namun, usaha itu gagal menghasilkan hasil.
"We have communicated and are still trying to make them trust us to do this event in Indonesia, but in the end they are adamant about canceling it," said Rima.
The World Abilitysport Games 2025 (WAG 2025) was supposed to be held on September 11-21, 2025 in Jakarta.
Indonesia was chosen to host WAG 2025 after going through a bidding process that has been carried out since 2024. It began with a visit from the delegation of the Federation of World Abilitysport on July 24-26, 2024 to review the venues to be used.
NPC Indonesia then signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Abilitysport Federation which officially designated Indonesia as the host of WAG 2025 on August 30, 2024 in Paris, France.
WAG 2025 plans to compete in 13 sports, 10 of which have received sanctioned status or are recognized by international federations and the resulting points will enter the ranking calculation towards the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.
Despite canceling WAG 2025, the World Abilitysport Federation and international federation still trust Indonesia to hold international championships in the sport of CP football and wheelchair fencing.
"There are two sports that still want their matches to be held in Indonesia, namely CP football (palsy celebrations) and wheelchair fencing," said Rima.
The wheelchair fencing Championship which was supposed to be held at WAG 2025 became a calendar for championship events with world status. As for the sport, CP football becomes an event at the Asian level.
