15 Years Of Leaf, Nissan Immediately Presents A Third Generation That Is More Observational

JAKARTA Ahead of its scheduled launch in the near future, Nissan Motor began to tease the public with a series of short videos showing behind-the-scenes process of developing the third-generation Nissan Leaf.

The video features team members from various divisions who describe directly the advantages and design philosophy of the latest Leaf model built from a long experience of 15 years.

Since its first introduction in 2010, the Nissan Leaf has been known as a pioneer of mass electric vehicles. To date, nearly 700,000 units have been sold worldwide, with the total collective distance of its users reaching more than 28 billion kilometers.

These figures are not only achievements, but also an important basis for the development of the third generation Leaf. The planner team and engineers used the entire learning from the previous two generations to bring the latest fully new, more mature, and innovation-packed Leaf.

In design, the third-generation Leaf appears brave and sleek, focusing heavily on aerodynamic efficiency. The barrier coefficients were recorded at only 0.26 Cd for the Japanese market and the United States' very impressive numbers for a family vehicle. Specifically for the European market, this model comes with a uniquely designed rim and rearview design.

"Every design element is designed by considering energy efficiency and aerodynamics. Even the panoramic roof has an important contribution," said Program Design Director Nobutaka Tase, quoted from Nissan's official website, Thursday, June 5.

Not only aesthetics, the roof of the latest panorama glass on the Leaf also works practically. In addition to adding a wide impression, especially in the back seat, this roof is equipped with an electric curtain that can be opened with only one touch. The infrared reflective layer (IR) on the glass also helps keep the sun hot, keeping the cabin comfortable.

Entering the interior, the CMF-EV platform used provides the flat floor completely, creating a wider and open cabin space. The combination of futuristic designs and practical functions makes this latest generation Leaf ready to become Nissan's new mainstay in the electrification era.

Nissan is scheduled to continue releasing interesting information and details about the third-generation Leaf until its official launch at the end of June. Get ready, the new Leaf era will begin soon.
