Cable Skin Waste Shocking In The Anies Baswedan Era In Today's History, March 20, 2018

JAKARTA History today, seven years ago, March 20, 2018, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan was furious with the discovery of cable skin waste in the culverts in front of the City Hall. According to him, cable skin waste is a former cable theft that can trigger flooding in Jakarta.

Previously, the problem of cable skin filling the culverts had occurred in the Ahok era. Cable waste was even present in the Medan Merdeka ring area. This condition brought a stir. The presence of cable waste in the culverts is considered a form of sabotage for Jakarta's floods.

No one considers it strange to see floods in Jakarta. The narrative was present because Jakarta has become a flooded area. When it rains overnight, the flood will come. Not to mention the affairs of the area that absorbs water as a Green Open Space (RTH) not much.

Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) understands this very well. He considered it reasonable. However, recently the flood disaster was considered a little strange from the beginning of March 2016. Take for example in the Medan Merdeka area.

It only rained for a moment, the puddles were already present. This condition has been going on for a week. When one or two times Medan Merdeka was flooded, the water was still understandable. Ahok immediately ordered his staff to find out about the cause of the flood around Medan Merdeka.

At its peak, the Jakarta cleaning staff found piles of cable skin waste in the culverts. The discovery made Ahok furious, not playing. He suspects that the accumulation of garbage is the culprit for Medan Merdeka to be easily flooded with water.

Ahok immediately ordered to transport all cables from the culverts. He considered that the Central Jakarta area would not be flooded if there were no barriers to cable waste. Ahok also proved that as soon as the garbage was transported the water flow was smooth.

Concerns that Central Jakarta may be affected by flooding have decreased. Ahok also tried to immediately take other precautions so that flooding in Jakarta could be immediately resolved.

"This is because the South drowned on average because of cables. I'll give you guys a look at the cable. This is crazy, there is a pile of cables in South Merdeka. At that time there were journalists asking me, South Merdeka drowned, sir. I said it shouldn't have been possible to sink unless there were obstacles."

"You can't see this. All of these used cable wraps are put in the sewers. Whose actions are this? We can't talk. We are transporting one truck. These are all cable packs wrapped into sewers. We found this two days ago. As long as there is no blockage of sewers, I guarantee the center will not sink," said Ahok as quoted on the second.com page, February 26, 2016.

The problem of cable skin waste did not go away when Anies Baswedan led Jakarta. Anies also found the same problem while in office. Jakarta cleaning officers informed Anies about the pile of cable waste filling the culverts in front of City Hall on March 20, 2018.

Anies was furious with the discovery of cable waste. Anies immediately reported the cable problem to the authorities. He does not want cable waste to continue in the future. This is because the garbage can trigger flooding in the Kemayoran area.

Anies also promised to immediately invite companies that own the utility cable to immediately reorganize cable planting in the ground or water channel. The effort was made so that the cable was not chaotic.

"If the temporary report from the Head of the Department of Water Resources, Teguh Hendarwan) is theft, later let it double check again. Of course (coordinate with Polda Metro Jaya)," said Anies, quoted by the COMPASS.com page, March 20, 2018.
